A voice from the past

One passage from an earlier register, with where it came from.

1789 fr →

Grievances of the women of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Ciboure to the King

The eloquence of suffering

We alone suffer from it, and the eloquence of suffering is more moving, more affecting and more illuminating than the eloquence of cold reason. Men charged with pleading our cause would not bring to it that warmth, that fire which brings truth to light.
